6. If you have found the same item at another store or advertised for a lower price, ask the store if they will either match or beat the price if you buy the item right away. And do not hesitate to bargain. Many stores will, especially if you are purchasing a lot of items.
7. If you have a friend that works at the store that has an item you want, ask them if they get employee discounts and if they are able to purchase the item with their discount.
8. If you are shopping at a store that will give you a discount on your purchases if you open an account, consider accepting the offer if the amount of your purchase is large enough to make the discount from opening the account worth the trouble. But always be aware that opening more credit accounts can lower your credit score, and cost you in the end. And make sure you pay the balance in full when it is due.
9. If you are buying jewelry at a jewelry store, always ask for a discount, even if the item is on sale. Jewelry markups are often 300% or more and jewelers will often discount the price further to make the sale. If they will not give you a sizeable discount, walk away.
